Earth Day celebration on April 20th at KIS
Did you know that “Earth Day” this year is scheduled for April 21st? KIS plans to celebrate Earth Day by inviting parents to join with our teachers and students to plant small trees, bushes, and flowers on the school campus. On Friday, April 20th we plan to have a huge “rummage” sale of equipment, furniture and other items that the school no longer needs. If you have items that you want to donate to the sale, please let Dr. Spottswood know at spotty4@aol.com. All funds earned from the rummage sale will go to the purchase of trees, scrubs, and flowers that will be planted on April 20th, the day our school will be celebrating Earth Day.
So please mark April 20th on your calendar and plan to join your children and the teachers and staff of KIS as we recycle unwanted items and plant flowers, scrubs, and trees that will beautify our campus and help to cleanse the air!
Eco-Science Fair a big hit!
Many parents came to the school on February 9th to watch, listen, and learn about the many ways we can be more ecologically conscious as our students presented poems, songs, and presented interesting talks about how we all must do more to protect our fragile environment. Items made for sale by our students raised more than 20,000 KZT. These funds will be used to purchase special re-cycle containers for the school.A special thanks to all the teachers and the students for their hard work in preparation for the Eco-Science Fair. We especially want to thank Ina Kunnat and Diviya Raxe for the extra effort they made in organizing the event. Finally, a big “thank you” to all the parents who showed up to support their children and the school!
Find us on the Internet!
With the help of one of our parents, Krisztina André, we will have a web site that “tells the story” of Kazakhstan International School. The web address is: www.kisnet.org It will be up on the net by this weekend. Please spend some time checking it out. We will be constantly working to improve the web site, so let us hear from you with any comments or suggestions that can help make it better. You can send your comments to Dr. Phil at spotty4@aol.com.
