National Russian Stream

The National Russian Stream provides the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, while meeting the guidelines and standards of the national Kazakhstan curriculum. Our goal within the primary years is to produce students with a lifelong love of learning who have accomplished academic success within their individual learning styles.


Our Russian stream provides classes for students in preschool up to grade 4. Your son/daughter will to benefit from our commitment to a high teacher to child ratio, where the average class size ranges from eight (8) to fifteen (15). This commitment ensures that your child receives highly personalized instruction, where students are encouraged to pursue inquiries and develop within their individual learning styles. Lead teachers are highly qualified with elementary school teaching experience.

IB PYP in the National Russian stream

Our National Russian stream students are fully immersed in the IB PYP, completing six Units of Inquiry throughout the year, along with Russian language arts and reading, mathematics, EAL, physical education, music and the arts, and computer class. Your child will experience all of this within a week at KIS, along with learning to model the IB Learner Profile and IB Attitudes throughout their day-to-day learning experiences.


Our bright, airy classrooms at KIS create an environment that is conducive to learning. Each classroom is set up with a Smartboard and connected with state of the art information technology to maximize the effectiveness of instruction. Each class is designed to be a true Smart Classroom.  Every student has computer access and will be trained on the use of computers to facilitate their education.


All of our students track their academic progress in “Portfolios,” designed for students to track their own growth as a learner throughout the year, as well as provide important communication with parents and teachers regarding their academic developments. The Portfolios will be kept in the classroom where students have access to them.
