As with the visual arts, the musical arts are integral to the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) at KIS. They are a powerful mode of communication through which students can explore and construct a sense of self and develop an understanding of the world around them.
The musical arts provide our students with opportunities and means to respond to their experiences and engage with historical, social, and cultural perspectives. The students are stimulated to understand expression of thoughts in new ways, and through a variety of media.
At KIS the general music curriculum offered provides every student the opportunity to create, perform and respond to music, and promote lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of music. The music curriculum at KIS is integrated into the students Units of Inquiry when appropriate, helping to bring a well-rounded experience to our students through the musical arts.
Mrs. Madina is originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Her favorite memory from school is of her first official assembly in first grade—her first teacher and music lessons in music school. She graduated from the Kurmangazy Conservatory as a Music Teacher and Musicologist. She loves to perform and decided to become a teacher so she could pass on her knowledge and love of music to children.
